7/16 24-CARRIER ROPE 600′ FT SPOOL
$573.99
THE CLIMB RIGHT BRAND, 7/16″ 24-carrier arborist rope is a specific type of rope construction designed for use in tree climbing and rigging.
24-Carrier (or 24-Strand) Double Braid: This refers to the rope’s construction. It consists of a braided outer cover (the mantle or sheath) and a separate braided core. Both the core and the cover are load-bearing, which contributes to the rope’s strength and durability. This construction is popular for arborist ropes because it’s strong and maintains a smooth, round shape, making it compatible with a wide range of climbing devices and friction hitches.
Description
The most common materials are:
- Polyester Cover: The outer layer is typically made of polyester, which provides excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. It also holds its shape well.
- Nylon or Polyester Core: The core can be either nylon or polyester. A nylon core offers good shock absorption, while a polyester core provides low stretch and high strength.
Diameter and Strength
- Diameter: The 7/16″ diameter is a common size for arborist climbing ropes. In metric terms, this is approximately 11mm or 11.2mm. It provides a good balance between a comfortable grip and a lightweight feel.
- Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS): These ropes typically have a high tensile strength, often ranging from 6,000 to 7,000 lbs (or 27 to 31 kN) when new and without any knots or splices. When a spliced eye is added, the breaking strength may be slightly reduced, but it will still meet or exceed the ANSI Z133 standard of 5,400 lbs for arborist climbing lines.
